Romeo Santos (The Batcha King) the Bronx born singer has reached what most would describe as the peak of their career, the singer is on his way to making Yankee Stadium history this coming weekend with his sold out concerts at the Stadium. The 32 year old singer of Puerto Rican and Dominican decent has become one of the top grossing international solo stars. Romeo started as the lead singer of the Bachata group Aventura. He will not only be he first artist to play the new Yankee Stadium to sold out audiences on Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th but he will be the first Latin artist since the Fania All Stars played the stadium in 1973.
Romeo’s latest “Formula Vol. 2” CD (Sony Music Latin) has already broken the Billboard charts with his top selling single featuring Drake, “Odio”. His new album also features collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Carlos Santana and Marc Anthony. Romeo will also be coming out in the new “Fast and Furious 7” movie next year.
“I’m honored,” Romeo said at a news conference announcing the shows. “I grew up in this neighborhood, near Yankee Stadium, and I would walk around with my cousin, and we were just trying to buy tickets to see a baseball game. I never even imagined that I would be performing, and to just make it to this point in my career as a solo artist is extremely wonderful.
These are the last two dates of his tour supporting his second solo album “Formula, Vol. 2”, Santos has been getting on stage in a royal cape and carrying a scepter, showing who is “King of Bachata”. Tri-State area fans are looking forward to attending what they already know is a historical event and rumors are flying of all the surprise collaborators that will be on stage with Romeo Santos.
I highly recommend that you all find a way to make it to one of the concerts, I have been to Aventura concerts and Marc Anthony concerts where Romeo has performed and they have been great. He has a way with his audience that is so sweet and special that you can’t help but want to see him performing again. Personally I am so looking forward to covering this event for you fans and watching history in the making. Knowing that this event is beyond Romeo, this event allows the rest of us to not just dream but to dream big. Anything is possible with hard work, faith and dedication. – “THE KING STAYS KING”-#fanlove.
Now of course, I had to include what is my favorite song from “Formula Vol.2” “Yo Tambien” ft. Marc Anthony 🙂
