Ayiiti is a young singer with a sultry voice that will have you hooked from the very first note that you hear her sing. I met Ayiiti at the The Bitter End in New York City during the ChristmasPalooza show last month. I was so impressed with her voice during the sound check that I just had to figure out how I could interview her.
The Bitter End was, needless to say, noisy as there were other performers also doing sound check. I had to think quickly and my only alternative was to go into the ladies room to interview her. Thank goodness my friend Charlie agreed to hold the camera for me so I could use the flashlight from my cell phone to chat with Ayiiti in the ladies room. See video below of our brief chat and please excuse the quality since “bathroom interviews” don’t provide you too many options, but we must make the best of every #fanlove opportunity we get (never thought I would be worrying about lights and sound for my videos, be careful what wish for; #lovemyfanlife 🙂 ).
Ayiiti , born in Haiti, has a new EP out titled “No Heartbreak” with six songs for which she wrote the lyrics for. The EP has a variety of styles, a little pop, rock, and even a ballad that showcases the versatility of Ayiiti’s talents. Ayiiti expressed that she is experimenting with different genres and is looking forward for her next project to reflect her multicultural background of Haitian, French, and Chilean. Ayiiti recently recorded background vocals for Andres Cuervo, a Colombian, singer who currently has a number one hit on Billboards Tropical chart. During her visit to NYC she also performed at Maxwell’s Tavern. I am looking forward to seeing Ayiiti performing again and watching her career grow as her fans are dedicated and just as fascinated with her as I am.
EP – Ayiiti – No Heartbreak song list: Down, Drifting Away, Rise and Fall, No Heartbreak, Move On Be A Man

Hola… Fellow Fans hoping you all having a marvelous Holiday Season! It has been a while since I posted on WendyT Fan Love; real life took over and I just had to live it. I am happy to inform you all that 2015 has been a very interesting year in more ways than one. Family and professional events have consumed most of my time so my blogging at WendyT Fan Love came to a halt.
I have had the opportunity to work with some very interesting people, I have interviewed several artists (Papi Wilo, Luis Jimenez, Santeye) and covered some musical events for my friends at Global MusicMagazine. I also have had a fantastic time living my fan life to the max. I had so many beautiful surprises and #marcmiracles it’s difficult to believe and I am the one living those amazing “miracles”. I like to share some of my fan life experiences in 2015 on this labor of #fanlove called WendyT Fan Love with you fellow fans:
February 2015 was all about Marc Anthony three back to back concerts Valentine’s Day weekend, and to my delight two of those days I was seating front row. Now if you have read some of the blogs on this site you all know I am all about my Marc Anthony. I could not believe that my traveling during that cold/snowy weekend that the payoff was going to be so surprising. I was supposed to volunteer for Marc’s foundation (MaestroCares.org) only the first day at Boardwalk Atlantic City, but I ended up volunteering all three days as some people could not make it due to the weather. At the Prudential Center in Newark the second day I could not believe I bought a second row ticket that I turned into a front row ticket. I thought I was going to faint when Marc stood in front of me and waved to me as if he recognized me; I have no idea if he knows I exist but I will take whatever he wants to give me. On the third day at Nassau Coliseum I had a front row ticket too; I was in heaven. While he was singing “HuboAlguien” I was videotaping him and he stood right in front of me and gave me one of the best gifts a fan can possibly have, he stood right in front of the camera and stopped when he said the “P” word (curse word in Spanish) and I have it recorded!!! I started to cry from the emotion of it all; like he knew what that would mean to me. It was all beautiful and crazy at the same time; please watch it below.
In 2015 I have seen Marc in concert eight times as I saw him again on October in Brooklyn, Boston, DC/Virginia; and saw him this month (December) at Foxwoods in CT two days in row. Foxwoods was another one of those fans moments that are totally dreamlike, on Friday the first night, I received from a “Marc Angel” the drum sticks that Marc used during Jessie Carraballo’s drum solo, I was so happy. On Saturday I once again had the privileged of throwing my Puerto Rican flag on stage and Marc picked it up and placed it on his face. I was beyond happy again another surreal fan moment for me. That was the second time Marc has placed one of my flags on his face, this time is special because I actually have a picture of him with the flag on his face (thank you Maddie). The first time he placed my flag on his face I only have pics of the flag on his microphone; though that flag he autographed for me a year later in 2013. My “Marc Angels” worked overtime because at Foxwoods I sat third row center two days in a row. To add to my delightful Marc year, Marc’s photographer, Carlos Escobar (see his picture below) took a picture of the audience and I am in the the photo holding my flag in my hands and its on MarcAntonyonline.com!!! …#lovemyfanlife :). I sadly have to say that he has not sang “Espera” which is the song I have been dreaming to hear him sing live. I am so happy that the “Black Suit” has been retired; now I have to watch out for those gray blazers 😉 . Marc’s band members are a bunch of class act musicians not only on stage but also off as they are all extremely nice with the fans. I love my Marc road-trips with fellow fans we have so much fun we sing, laugh, and share life stories. It’s amazing thank you all you know who your are. Again I have to say I can’t believe my “Marc Miracles” sometimes and I am the one living them; this is why part of me feels such a responsibility to share as much as I can about my fan experiences because I know so many fans who wish they could have these types of fan moments too.
Marc will be back in the NYC tri-state area in February 2016 after almost nine years he will be “home” at MSG on February 6th, you have no idea how excited I am. Yes I have my ticket ready as I am praying he sings “Preciosa”, because he has only sang it in Puerto Rico all these years. He will also be at Prudential Center on the February 13 and the 14th on Valentine’s Day at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT; that is a new venue for him/us so I am so looking forward to seeing him there too. Fans please don’t forget to stop at the Maestro Cares tables to donate.
My 2015 fan experiences was not just about Marc, I have also had the opportunity to see my favorite Urban artist Nicky Jam at the Daddy Yankee concert at Madison Square Garden, my son was with me and it was beautiful to share our #fanlove for Nicky we have been going to see Nicky since 2004. Last year when I started this blog I had mentioned that Nicky Jam was on a serious comeback and my prediction was on point. Nicky Jam has won two Latin Grammys this years and countless of other music awards; has signed with Sony Music and will be headlining his own tour in March 2016 in NYC, Miami and Chicago, needless to say I have already have my ticket to MSG, and how I wish to interview him.
Ricky Martin, Chaynne, Wisin, Jennifer Lopez, La India, Luis Enrique, Grupo Mania, Victor Manuelle, Ivey Queen, Los Hermanos Rosario, Tego Calderon, Vico C, Don Omar, ChocQuib Town, Farruko, Zion and Lennox, are just a few the legendary artists that I have seen in concert this year. Also had the pleasure of attending two sold out comedy shows that comedian Joey Vega had at the Comic Strip NYC this year; he had us crying from laughing so much. Check out his Facebook page Comedian Joey Vega for his latest comedy shows (there is one scheduled for Jan 30th in NJ go to http://joeyvega.ticketleap.com/ ).
My 2015 fan life ended with the Christmas Palooza show at the Bitter End in NYC presented by Chris Apostle, Maria Sebastian, and Cristian Camilo Castro; where some of the best up-and-coming artists once again left me and awe with so much talent such I am so looking forward to all that 2016 will bring.
Thank you all for your patience with me please follow me on Instagram @WendyT_MA and on Twitter @WendyT_MA_Fan; a Facebook page will be coming soon. Best wishes to you all this Holiday Season, lots of #fanlovetothemax, may you all receive all that you want, and need this coming year 2016. DREAM BIG IT’S FREE!
I had the pleasure April 7th at the DROM NYC to interview Lauren Davidson an extremely talented singer who has a rock style that just yells out “greatness”. She gets on stage and just explodes with a voice that is purely classic rock and roll. Lauren will be releasing her new single soon and if its anything like the songs she performed at the DROM NYC we are in for a beautiful experience. Lauren is also a song writer, she shared with me that sometimes she is just walking the streets and all of a sudden a song idea comes to her and she immediately pulls out her phone to record it.
Lauren has been working and improving her craft from as early as 10 years old. She goes where ever there is a stage for her to perform in, she does back up for several musicians in the NYC Tri-State area, she has performed with country groups, and wedding bands. Lauren recently performed at Arlene’s Grocery her first solo showcase and here she was at the DROM doing it a again solo. She performed with her band (Cris Cats, DP, Will, and Agusto) several songs and just left the fans wanting more.
Lauren will be back in Miami to perform at the Miami Palooza event at Will Call Miami on Friday, April 24th along with several other artists. Miami Palooza is a musical event that brings some of the best young talent in the US; produced by Chris Apostle, Mario Guini, and Cristian Camilo Castro(Cris Cats). Please see below my brief interview with Lauren, video of her performing, and some sound check pictures.

The Shady Record Story featuring Eminem, Paul Rosenberg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cents and others:
As an Eminem fan I have been facinated about his story since I first heard him rapping, how a kid from the streets of Detroit gets world attention solely based on his lyrical prowess. Eminem’s intelligent use of words to convey his angst, and raw story telling is how lyrical rappers are defined. The first time I saw Eminem perform live was in 2010 when he and Jay Z did “The Home & Home Tour” at Yankee Stadium; the show also had Nicki Minaj, B.o.B, 50 Cent, and Drake as guests. I was so happy to experience Hip-Hop with some of the very best representing the genre and at a level that fans just dream of; the energy in the stadium could have lit-up the entire Bronx that night; it was magical!
Last year, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg celebrated the 15 year anniversary of their label, Shady Records, and released a compilation album Shady XV. The album was a double disk, one side filled with new material and the other filled with Shady’s greatest hits. The release of the album could not tell the entire story of Eminem and his record label partners as well as the rise of Shady Records. Complex Media, Eminem, and Paul Rosenberg got together for this documentary which is very personal and telling of the dynamics that has made Shady Records a very successful record label.
The documentary below provides a glimpse of what its takes to produce a good record and how the listener is respected in the process. Hope that aspiring artists study what is being said and take the useful lessons being shared. #fanlove
December 22, 2014 – Chris Apostle, who’s experience in the music industry is quite extensive, and I had an opportunity to chat before the Christmas Palooza music event held at The Bitter End in NYC. We chatted about the future of the Palooza events, about providing a forum for young musical talent, and lots more…(see video below).
Christmas Palooza brought to us by Chris, Mario Sebastian, and Cristian Camilo Castro provided all types of musical genres, POP, Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, Spanish Ballads, BeatBox, even a bit of Country Rock. We also had laughter due to comedian Liz Faublas, who for some reason wanted to do unspeakable things with the drummer’s hair... she was so funny 🙂
Performers included: Mario Sebastian, Cristian Camilo Castro, Ayanna Irish, Bobby Syvarth, Mind State, Lauren Davidson, JJ Restrepo, Heather Lucas, Luisa Bastidas (violinist), Amit Bhowmick (Amit Beatbox), Ascending From The Ashes, Lyrics, comedian Liz Faublas, Will Frazier (drummer), and Dan Patrick Leal (guitarist). (see videos and pictures of some of the performances below).
ChrisApostle started his music career as a musician and has had one o the most interesting careers in the music industry. Chris in addition to the continued development of the Palooza events is currently working in association with Emilio Estefan on other musical projects. Chris has held several previous important positions within the music industry, he was the one time partner of Hoffman Entertainment, Inc, in charge of their producer management division, he was Vice President of Special Recording Projects for Casablanca/Universal Records, and before that considered the right hand of one time Sony Music EntertainmentCEO, Tommy Mattola.
Chris has held important responsibilities in just about every aspect of the music industry such as co-producing, the coordination of recording projects, A&R, and TV show productions. He has handled post release follow-up including promo appearances, tour management, and other responsibilities where he was part of the final decision making.
Chris has been a very instrumental part of some of the most notable musical performers of the last several decades such as Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Jessica Simpson, Ricky Martin, Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Maxwell, Kelly Osbourne, Thalia, Gloria Estefan, Diddy, Lindsay Lohan, and many others.
Thank you Chris Apostle for chatting with me and providing some insight into your work history in the music business. We appreciate you, Mario, and Cristian for all you guys do for us fans in bringing us talented performers that transport us into a state of happiness. We are looking forward to the expansion of the Palooza events and whatever other surprises you all may have in stored for us fans.
The best compliment I can give all involved is that “we want more” I left the Bitter End wanting more…. 🙂
Happy New Year 2015! #fanlove #letthemiraclesbegin #livingmydreams #wendytfanlove
December 20,2014 – Jessie Caraballo from time to time referred by Salsa singer Marc Anthony as “ElMonstro” (The Monster) due to his powerful percussion solos at Marc’s concerts. The 29 year old percussionist has been a part of MarcAnthony’s band since he was 19 years old. Jessie’s solos during Marc Anthony’s concerts are already being considered classics by thousands of his fans. During his solos it feels like an explosion is occurring in the venue as you can hear the fans yelling and clapping during his solos in sheer fascination of the talent that is Jessie. His solos have become so famous among his fans that even Marc has decided to join in the fun when Jessie is doing them; Marc actually sits on his own set of drums now and picks up his sticks to hit the drums to add to Jessie’s percussionist solo frenzy. The fans are in love with this soon to be legendary musician, who not only performs with Marc, this year he had the opportunity to tour some dates with Reaggaton superstar Yandel and others.
While Jessie was in Connecticut performing at Foxwoods Casino the last two concerts of 2014 with Marc Anthony I had an opportunity to discuss with him his new Album/EP “4:13” which he will be releasing in early 2015, touring, his family, and lots more. Please watch my interview with “Jessie (El Monstro ) Caraballo” below:
I have been a fan of Jessie from the minute I first saw him in concert with Marc 10 years ago and my personal experience with this young man has been a pleasure. It does not matter what venue I am in from LA to Puerto Rico, Jessie sees me and always finds a little time to chat. Jessie Caraballo is talented, respectful, and faithful.
“Go Mama Smell All You Want”, were one of the many words I heard 11 years ago today from my favorite singer on Earth Marc Anthony. On October 28th 2003 I was given one of the best gifts of my life by a fellow Marc fan and my very first Marc travel partner Denise. Denise invited me to go with her to the Show Nightclub after party which was going to take place after the tribute concert to Donna Summers at Radio City Music Hall; in which Marc and Ricky Martin were featured performers. All day I was like a little girl going to visit Santa, I was so excited, and full of anticipation I could not contain myself. I had no idea what he would say and I had no idea of what I would say. I have met other celebrities before but I had never had this crazy feeling. I had met people like Ruben Blades, Ray Barreto, and other Salsa artists, but I was meeting ‘my favorite singer’ and I could not believe it.
The concert was really nice, though we got a chance to see Marc a bit pissed off as the sound system was not working properly when he came out to perform, first time seeing that side of him, so I was of course worried about me. Yes, call me selfish because I was just thinking how that incident would affect his mood at the after party meet and greet. Well needless to say I was a mess with anticipation, though not enough were I was not a bit prepared. The year before almost to the day, I had gone to Puerto Rico to see Marc in concert and outside the arena they were selling a “MarcAnthony 2002 Tour”Puerto Rican flag and I bought one. The minute I touched it and had it in my hands I said to myself, “He will sign this flag for me one day when I meet him”.
Denise and I decided to forego the finale of the concert and we left to make sure that we were one of the first ones on line outside the club. JohnnyRodriguez was one of the producers of the after party and TKA, K7, George Lamond were performing at the club that night, now I love me some Freestyle music so I was happy (Marc sang Freestyle with them that night). Johnny came out to greet us and after a little while we were all able to enter the club, which got packed pretty quickly. There were several other fan club members there too so we were all chatting with anticipation. Aaron McClain, one of Marc’s ex-guitarists came over to me and brought me a drink I will never forget it as I don’t think he knew how much I needed it.
The moment finally arrived when I was able to be in front of the man I so wanted to meet for many years, yes many I have been following Marc since his Little Louie Vega days. I stand in front of him and he just hugged me and whispered in my ear how much he appreciated my support and said “I love you too”. In my head I was thinking, “OMG GOD HE IS ACTUALLY HUGGING ME!!!” I could feel his body next to mine, such a serial moment I could not believe it. I composed myself a bit and told him about how I always told the girls from the fan club that the day I meet him I wanted to smell him; Marc looked at me and moved his head to the side and said, “GO MAMA SMELL ALL YOU WANT”! I was laughing because I could not believe that he was serious I only expected him to laugh about it but no he really allowed me to smell his neck. I was hysterical with laughter and so amazed at him for giving me one of the best fan moments of my life. Then he sits down and reads the flag and asked me, “You were there” and I smiled and he smiled back, it was such a sweet moment. Now please know that the club is packed with people and there are other fans waiting on line to meet him, Johnny is trying his best to speed up the process and I in my altered state where the only two people who existed on Earth at that moment was Marc and I. I was not about to have, “My Marc Moment rushed”. Marc starts to sign my flag and asked me, “What is your name” I kneeled next to him and he looked at me as if he knew that I was going to tell him exactly what I wanted him to write; and he was right. Marc signed my flag: Wendy, All my love “Mamita” he added his flower/heart and his name.
I can’t believe 11 years have flown by since my meeting Marc and having had this special moment that will live with me forever. My favorite Marc moment also proofs in so many ways that dreams do come true, all you have to do is prepare, and the universe will give you dreams that feel like miracles. Though the moment was not recorded via a picture as my friend’s camera did not work it did not matter because once again my heart told me that we would meet again. Three years later in August 2006 at the Taj in Atlantic City I received my second favorite Marc moment, another meet and greet and this time several pictures were taken. And just add to my fan treasures of my years of Marc fan moments, Marc and Jennifer Lopez signed a very special picture I selected of them that same day. I so thank God every day for my Marc Fan Moments, he will probably never know how much he has impacted my life, but knowing what I know in my heart he probably will someday. DREAM BIG IT’S FREE….. #fanlovetothemax #lovemyfanlife
October 3, 2014 – Mami Palooza delivered what I was so hoping for, a show filled with talented musicians who had us dancing and rocking all night. Chris Apostel, Mario Sebastian, and Cristian Castro gave a show that I wished I would have recorded in its entirety.
The show was so good that most of us did not leave Will Call Miami till way passed 3:30 a.m. we wanted more. The show started with Nadia Forde a young artist from Ireland she had two dancers with her. Nadia sang several pop songs then she performed a ballad while Cristian Castro played acoustic guitar. I believe this is where her artistry shined, you could feel the emotion and the guitar was played flawlessly by Cristian. Sarah Packiam another artist from Ireland brought us her pop music style, she played the guitar and sang some of her latest releases (check out her website she has several covers and original music that will be worth your time) her performance was very compelling.
Then the time came when totally familiar musicians started to take over the stage, Eric Perez, Joenuel Lebron, Curtis Rodriquez, Ozzie Melendez, Ricky Gonzalez, Mario Sebastian, Jessie Caraballo, Erben Perez, Jean Rodriguez straight from being on stage with Marc Anthony at the American Airlines Arena. It felt like family was getting on stage as I just had seen them minutes earlier at the concert. I started thinking this is the reason I looked up the meaning of “Palooza” before I left to Miami as I needed to make sure that I was getting a Palooza. (Meaning of Palooza: the word originated from Lollapalooza, a music festival; an exaggerated event). Miami Palooza was an “exaggerated event” as talent was overflowing from every single musician that performed. To see Marc’s band members outside of a large arena where I normally see them perform and to see them in a smaller intimate setting such as Will Call Miami was a treat for my ears and eyes makes anyone appreciate them at a whole different level. They played their instruments to Urban/Hip-Hop/Rock/Salsa music it was fabulous how they can go from one genre to the next and all live.
Jean Rodriquez (JeanMusic) who happens to be a four Grammy nominee this year thanks to several songs he wrote and produced for different artists such as Prince Royce and Yandel. Jean took the stage and his energy alone made you happy he has a beautiful voice that just pulled you into every note and lyric he sings with his Urban/R&B/POP/Salsa fusion style. I highly recommend that you guys follow Jean the talent this young man possesses needs to be seen and heard every chance possible. Jean had with him a vocalist I recognized but could not remember her name and I was not able to remember from where I had seen her before it turned out to be Jackie Menedez who has toured with Ricky Martin as well as others, besides been physically beautiful she has a beautiful voice. Jean also performed with the Urban/Hip-Hop group he belongs to Los Tabaqueros, who just last week recorded the video for their latest release “Fuego Y Sol”. Los Tabaqueros consist of members Jean, Itawe, Salazar, and Yeyo; these guys are producers and solo artists on their own right who got together to form this group full of energy that make you dance and smile. Their smooth vocals and rapping style makes you think that this group has been together for years as they compliment each other so well. You will definitely be hearing more of Los Tabaqueros as they are working on their album to be released soon. I personally can’t wait to see them life again, seeing them perform life for the first time made me like them even more (check out some the videos I took below, the quality is not great but at least you will get a sense as to why I like this group so much).
Mind State was another performer I was so happy to see at Miami Palooza as this is a young man I have been following lately and who I saw perform when he was a teenager. Mind State had with him vocalist Lauren Davidson who also has vocal that make anyone wish they could sing. Mind State rapped several songs and one of my favorites “Nite and Shining Armor” I just love this song and he performed it with such compassion and clarity, loved it. Mind State also had his dad Erben Perez on stage playing his bass guitar, and to see father and son bringing fans their talents in such an intimate space as Will Call Miami, was magical. It makes you wonder if they have ever thought that they would be on stage together like that one day when Mind State was little.
Mario Sebastian he is one of the first Marc band members I started following when he and Erben Perez had a band called Talking Buddah and they were doing gigs around the NYC tri-state area. Mario has a very unique style as his style is rock centric and pop. I really enjoy his rock and roll side, as I feel there is just not enough people who have the respect for the genre as Mario does. His guitar playing is beautiful it’s moments like these when I wish I studied music so that I could have all the words that can describe how he plays his guitar’; let’s just say the guy has “riff’s that are extraordinary”. He performed several songs but the one that just touches me is “Berlin”, I really like the energy I feel when he performs this song live. Mario is one of those musician who understands his musical style and is comfortable with it and I admire his lay-back energy.
The night was filled with love beyond my fan love, the artists on the stage where not only showcasing their own music they were also extremely supportive of each other. Jean would step in and do vocals for others, Cristian Castro would get on stage and play his guitar not only for Nadia and Mario but also for Mind State. There was #fanlove overflowing as the audience was clapping, dancing, and really celebrating each of the performers.
Miami Palooza was definitely one of the highlights of my Florida trip. #fanlove and respect to all who made this event possible, looking forward to the next one which ChrisApostel said may be happening in February 2015. Miami get ready to share #fanlove!
(Personal Note: you guys have any idea how hard it was for me to stay still while recording these guys performing, I wanted to dance and I had to remind myself, “Wendy the video!” 🙂 )
2014 Latin Grammy Nominations have been announced and Calle 13’sEduardo Cabra received 10 nominations due to his work as half the duo of the Puerto Rican rap group and as producer of Joerge Drexler’s album “Bailar en la Cueva”. Calle 13 the duo received nine nominations. Other top nominees included Andres Castro with 8 nominations as songwriter and producer of Carlos Vives’s latest release; seven nominations for various projects went to TomCoynewith . Julio Reyes, songwriter/producer and Calos Vives received six nominations. Descemer Bueno and Enrique Iglesisas received five each for “Bailando”.
I have to say I have never heard of any of the nominated Best New Artists, not sure what that says about me, the radio stations I listen to, or is it the Grammy folks. I am really impressed with Calle 13 as their music can be somewhat controversial at times but they continue to deliver lyrics that make us question our environment and our political views with “Multiviral”.
Carlos Vives is on a serious comeback and I am happy that his vallenato is alive and well with “Mas + Corazon Profundo” he has my attention as his song “Cuando Nos Volvamos a Encontra” is a duet with Marc Anthony which has received a Song of the Year nomination along with “El Mar De Sus Ojos” featuring ChocQuibTown.
I am glad to see Enrique Iqlesias’s five nomination for “Bailando” he just may take Song of the Year, I just love the energy of this song, and they were so smart in releasing a “Spanglish” (bilingual) version.
As far as I am concern Sergio George should walk out of the the Grammy Awards with Producer of the Year, not only was he the producer on my current favorite Album Marc Anthony’s“3.0” (surprise, surprise 🙂 ) but he has also produced several other artists which included not only Salsa, but Bachata and Urban music as well. The productions of the Salsa Giants album with various legendary Salsa artists is now a classic with most fans. I met Sergio once at SOBs and he was so nice to me, I am just in awe of his talents, would love to be in the studio with him one day and see him work.
The 15 Anniversary of the Latin Grammy Awards will air on November 20th on Univision.
