My L.A. Marc Anthony Birthday Weekend Cambio De Piel Tour 2014

So what is a Professional Fan to do when her favorite singer on Earth decides like basically every year during the fall to go on tour in the U.S.? Well she first goes crazy trying to find out the tour dates, once she does that she goes on and shares it with her fellow fans, once that is done the plotting starts or should I say the dreaming. Marc Anthony starts his U.S. Cambio Del Piel 2014 Tour in California then he goes on to Phoenix, then back to California, and somewhere in the east coast is one of his fans anxious about what she should do. She has already decided that she is going to Florida to see him all three days, why would she even be thinking about going to Los Angeles, California for her birthday weekend and not go to Vegas which he will be performing on the actual date of her Birthday (09/13), like she did last year?  What is going on in the mind of the Marc Anthony Professional Fan?

The Marc Anthony Professional Fan a.k.a. me has known that she wanted to go to L.A. for years now. It’s true I so wanted to share a Marc concert with Cali fans I have spoken with for years but have never met in person. Cali fans that are just as crazy for his music as I am, so in the middle of the night a day before the concerts in L.A. I go on the computer and started doing my research as I have been doing since they announced the tour dates. Looking at flights and hotel packages and just dreaming and to my delight I found a package I could not resist! I kept posting a couple of days earlier that the universe was giving me signs that I would end up on an airplane soon. I booked my flight and the following morning I was on an airplane cross country to meet up with Cali fans and have a good time. My “Marc Miracles” were just beginning, a Marc Angel was able to provide me with VIP seats and I could not have been happier about my decision to spend my Birthday weekend with Mi Querido Marc (My Dear Marc), favorite band, favorite comedian (yes he has become that 😉 ), and fellow fans.

I had been to California before but not L.A. so I was happy to be in the city I had only seen in movies and TV. The last 16 years I have tried every year to go see Marc in a place I have never been to before be it a new venue, new city, or state (dreaming Europe don’t tell anybody 🙂 ). I immediately started walking around the area, good thing the hotel I booked was across from the Nokia Theater. I quickly learned about no “J” walking and the so called L.A traffic, its real. After hanging out with some friends it was time to go back to my room and relax before going to the concert. I was so looking forward that during this tour Marc would sing Espera, but there is #noesperainmyfuture, though he quickly made up for it by doing other things. The first night I had to check in my camera as they thought it was too much of a professional camera, I was so disappointed, as I wanted to come back with so good pictures to share with you all; but I quickly had to get over it as I could not let any bad energy interfere with my concert experience.

I greeted several people and got to my VIP seat and that feeling of being home started with Marc’s opening act Joey Vega and his comedic genius. Joey has a way of connecting to fans no matter what city I see him in. I love watching the fans laughing and just getting the jokes as if it was being told from their point of view, lots of happy people I loved it. Joey finishes and that magical band starts the opening music, I have heard countless of times but I still get just as excited with anticipation and wonderment. Marc gets on stage with his now all too familiar black suit which I personally hope to burn one day, don’t ask when or how, that is just my personal dream ;). He has on his sun glasses on which he keeps on for the first two songs then handed them to Shannon, he should have thrown them to the fans, but what do I know. Marc exhibited a very playful and sweet demeanor. While Marc sang and he was very playful even took selfies with the fan’s phone, he was out to give every “fan moment” he could which is what I love about him. His voice is just amazing, for those going to see him you are going to love it when he sings Cambio De Piel and Flor Palida…OMG they are so much better when he sings them live, it’s so beautiful. One of the many Birthday presents I experienced was Marc singing Que Precio Tiene El Cielo, it’s one of my all-time favorite songs in which I get goosebumps and just start tearing up, don’t know why but he just sings it in such a way that it just gets to me.  I wish I could bottle up this feeling and give it to every Marc fan that has not had the opportunity to see him sing live, it’s a very addictive feeling for me and I know that as long as I live I will have all these Marc memories. Let it be known that the day I die, I hope its at a Marc concert and all my fellow fans have a Marc party dedicated to me :). After the concert that first night, I had to do what any dedicated Marc fan would do, “I went Salsa dancing” at the Conga Room! It was so much fun, there were plenty of fans there who like me had just seen him and like me they were all on a Marc Anthony high. It was so nice to have complete strangers wishing me an early Happy Birthday…good times :).

The second day in L.A. I got up and again looking forward to what adventure the day would bring. I had breakfast with a friend and we decided to go on one of those Hollywood tours. Again seeing those streets that I had seen in the movies and on TV and walking the street with the stars was a dream come true. I had no idea I would get excited to find Burt Reynolds’s star, shows you how old I am (I can hear most of you saying Burt who?) :). I really enjoyed the tour and seeing the neighborhoods and in and around L.A and seeing that Hollywood sign on the mountain was a little surreal as I always knew I would see it in person one day. We were surprise to see Guillermo from the Jimmy Kimmel Show  recording a skit outside their studio. The sun was burning so we got back with cute tanned faces and we headed back to an early dinner before going to the venue. The second night Joey and Marc was just as magical the band like always perfect; the solos impeccable everything I love they are. Marc was so cute in expressing his gratitude for having Ednita Nazzario in the audience, she is a Puerto Rican legendary singer. The second night also had very special moments in that I got a chance to hang out with my fellow Cali fans Arlene, Wanda and their family members. Its amazes me how Marc fans are some of the most generous and sweetest people I know. They even came with a birthday present for me as if meeting them in person after so many years was not enough. Thank you both for our special fan moments will cherish them forever can’t wait to see you both in NY one day soon. Arlene thank you for our very special moment which shall remain a Professional Fan secret forever ;).

Of course my Marc journey has to include what has become my way of showing Marc Anthony how much he has enriched my life by volunteering and supporting The Maestro Cares Foundation (www.maestrocares.org). Just the thought that we have the possibility of changing one child’s life forever and not only that child’s life but the generations that follow is all worth it. I had so much fun volunteering and having the fans asking, “Where are you from”, because they just knew I had a NY accent, it was funny to me. Everyone who gave their donations and all those who volunteered thank you all so much.

I hope you all enjoyed my Marc Birthday weekend Fan Experience I am grateful beyond words. To all that made it special for me, you all know who you are, every smile, every kiss hello, every Birthday greeting…Thank You and Blessings to all!

To Mi Querido Marc …Happy Birthday (09/16) may God forever Bless you and your family! #fanlove

Ariana & The Rose – Epic

I discovered Ariana &  The Rose several years ago when I went to see some of Marc Anthony’s band members perform at the Bitter End (Mario Sebastian, Erben Perez, and Cristian Camilo Castro) and ever since I have gone to see them perform  every chance I get when they are in town.

Ariana DiLorezo and her 4 member band I find are magical during their performances. Their style of pop music which to me has a rock/techno feel to it with lyrics that touch the soul is beautiful.  “Epic” is the way they described their music during my brief interview with Ariana & The Rose when I went to see them perform at I Play America in Freehold, NJ on September 1st (see interview below).  Ariana & The Rose are in the middle of their North American tour with  Heffron Drive on the Happy Mistakes Tour, having recently return from touring Europe. They have also been working in the studio putting together their next CD which is scheduled to be release in 2015 of which I can’t wait to get my hands on.

Please note that my videos were taken despite having the security guards remove me from inside the front of the stage (oops no VIP tag) and telling me no flashes….whats a professional fan to do you may be asking; well its simple you follow orders, and kindly ask for forgiveness, and wait a bit, and do it all over again. 😉

Saum G – Cellist With Electronic Infused Music – New Release!

Recently seen at Coachella, Saum Ghosh (Saum G) is a socially conscious cellist and producer, whose urban cello-infused music is turning heads all over the world. The cello is a classy instrument. Some might even say “elegant.” But when Ghosh seamlessly integrates the traditional classic instrument into revolutionary pop music, the word is definitely SEXY.

Saum’s mission is to spread positivity through great music with this powerful message: the only way to be truly happy is to bring happiness to others – whether that is through volunteering, donating, or helping others in your own community. He uses the power of music to further his family’s foundation,Soumit’s Worldhelping fulfill the dreams of underprivileged children through the areas of academics, creative arts, and economic growth. Which, we can all agree, is just as sexy as his mad cello skills.

Hailing from Nashville with Indian parents, Saum brings a fresh, international style to his work. He was classically trained as a musician since the age of three, but discovered early on that he had an affinity for technology and electronic music. This led him to experiment with computer-based digital workstations, catapulting him into a thrilling creative platform.

His newest single, Fate and Flux, will be released on iTunes August 28, 2014.

Fate and Flux was inspired by the constant influx of material distractions in modern relationships and how they distract us from what is truly important. Going against the introspective life epiphany being chronicled in this tune, Saum takes a fun, upbeat approach – and of course, masterfully played on the pop cello. – Molly Rose

I was recently introduce to Saum G’s music and just wanted to know a bit more of this very talented young man and this is some of what he shared:

– What inspires you most to create your music, why the cello?

Ever since I was a child, I have had musical notes and pattern arrangements enter my mind. When I create music, I am simply expressing these sounds outward. I need to get them out so, I do. Also, I love the feeling music gives its listener. I have been playing the cello for quite some time, I sometimes would play along with some of my production, and as a result it became part of my sound.
– Who are your musical influences, are they any particular artists that you admire, and why?
I was very inspired by classical and all types of artists, from pop, hip hop, drum and bass.  I delved into electronic music after listening to Oakenfold’s Global Underground back in 2001, but the genre has seen so many changes since then.
– Where was the first time you performed professionally and what was that experience like?
The first time I performed professionally, was at Canopy Club in Champaign IL with a group I had formed at that time called “Gifted.” The experience was exhilarating. Basically kicked ass and let me know that I wanted that feeling again. But what really gets me as a performer, is having the crowd move to your music.
– If you could change the world what would you change first?
I think changing the world is impossible to do over night. But with time I would like to see more sustainability and less waste of resources, without going backwards in our progress. Violence is a real tough issue I’d like to see go away. Of course I believe music can help stop violence.
– Is there anything in particular you would like your fans to know about you?
I have a new album called Water From Mars, releasing in October, with the second single from the Album, “Fate and Flux” dropping on August 28th. The first single “Running through you” is now on Itunes, Google Play, Amazon, and Rhapsody. I’d ask for everyone who hasn’t listened, to tune in to my Pandora Station,  SaumG, or visit me on soundcloud. The truth about the album is, I had an older track and it seemed to fit with a lot of modifications on the new album. Also there is a huge drought in California at the time, and this made the song and album title seem appropriate.
The talent of Saum G is just the beginning of what he offers his fans, the positive messages he offers is just as powerful. Saum G, thank you for taking the to time answer my questions and I am sure your fans like me are looking forward to your new release and your coming live performances. #fanlove

Luisito Rosario – New CD – Looking Sexy… and more!

Luisito Rosario is on musical journey that just yells out I am here and I have lots more to give which may explain his latest CD titled ” Vengo a Mi Modo” (Coming My Way).  The Salsa artist of Puerto Rican descent has a style that is undeniably filled with love and dedication. Mr. Rosario has a Salsa style that can best be described as both very soft and debonair yet with all the aggressiveness of his Salsa Dura ( hardcore Salsa, which means a  more fast paced rhythmic Salsa with more aggressive lyrics) style. While speaking with Luisito he expressed what I feel it’s important in an artist and that is that he is aware of what the fans come out for. He said, “ I want to be entertaining, I want people to have fun, and I want to reach each person that is what I strive for”.

Luisito is in the middle of promoting his latest CD “Vengo A Mi Modo” I got the opportunity chat with him and I was very impressed with how passionate he is about Salsa and his fans:

Luisito, all your fans are all excited about the new CD; I am intrigue with the CD title, “Vengo A Mi Modo” (Coming My Way) how did you select that title? Tell us what we can expect and how did you go about selecting the songs that have been included in the CD:

“Vengo A Mi Modo”, is a song that I wrote, it’s who I am, what I do, how I interact with people. I am a people person and when I am on stage I make sure that fans enjoy themselves. When I sing it’s not all about me, I want the fans to have a good time. I want the fans to be engaged, dance, throw their hands up in the air, and make it a party.   That is why the lyrics says (OMG he actually sang a bit of the song to me his voice is beautiful) “Vengo a mi modo, oye soy diferente, para alegra a la gente y al bailador….” (Coming my way, listen I am different, to make people happy and the dancers…). People work hard and when the weekend comes or they attend a festival they want to have a good time, I want to take the fans on a musical trip and I come to bring them joy. While there are romantic Salsa songs on the CD I also don’t forget about the dancers, and that is why some of the arrangements on this CD take the dancers into consideration, so that they have fun too. I also try to stay true to the old school 70s Salsa style where it was about the dancers. On this CD there are also several solos by the band which is what Salsa music is all about too, enjoying the music as much as we enjoy the lyrics. The CD also includes romantic Salsa and a song with English lyrics as my fans enjoy it all. On my previous recordings there is also a variety of styles. My goal is to please everyone as I also have fans that are not Latinos and we travel the world going to different countries bringing what I was born to do which is to make people happy with my gift. I love what I do and just to capture the interest of fans that did not know who I was and once they hear me sing and they ask, “when you coming back”, its fun. I also make sure that the band has a good time.

Why music, why Salsa, it’s obvious you can sing any other genre and in both English and Spanish? What attracted you to music and how old were you?

When I was younger we would listen to Freestyle music, my brother started to bring home Frankie Ruiz and other Salsa artist’s music to the house and I just started to sing the songs. My mother heard me singing one day and asked me, “was that you”, and she noticed that I had talent. But I did not really start singing in public until I was  like 22 years old. I was living in Jersey and some friends and I try to put a band together but nothing happen, then my family and I moved to Pennsylvania. I started working at a university and there were lots of Latino people working there a guy told me that he knew of a local band that needed a singer and I started singing locally. One day I got a call from Larry Harlow telling me that he needed a lead singer and that’s how my career started. I have also worked with other banks, Grupo Echizo, and Los Hermanos Morenos.  Till this day if I get nervous before I get on stage, I get excited and the day that stops that will be the day I will not sing anymore. I have also worked with other bands such as Grupo Echizo, and Los Hermanos Morenos, and others.

When was the first time your traveled overseas to sing and describe that experience for us.

When I was singing with Los Hermanos Rosario, we went to Switzerland and that was the very first time I had traveled outside the country to perform. I was so amazed at how everyone welcomed us and how much they enjoyed Salsa, to see other people from other parts of the world enjoying what you do its such a gratifying feeling.

Is there a particular venue/show that has been your favorite thus far?

When I traveled to Puerto Rico for El Dia National Del Las Salsa that was unbelievable thousands of people attended.  I was so proud of the reception I received from the audience.  To be able to yell out “Viva Puerto Rico” to your people in their own country and the country of my ancestor’s it was such a pride filled moment and an honor for me. I will never forget that feeling of representing Puerto Rico and for me who was born in New Jersey it’s such a responsibility and that is how I feel in every country I am performing.

How does it feel to have your fellow musicians congratulating you and sending video messages about your new CD release? It’s like the world is celebrating with you and they are validating your hard work.

My fellow musicians have seen my hard work over the years, they see that I try to keep the Salsa alive just like them. Its my responsibility as a musician to be professional and respect what I do for those of us who have been doing this for years there is a respect for we have for one another.  It’s amazing to me and I am grateful that they feel that way about me and it makes me happy that they appreciate what I do. I was surprised one time when I was in Cancun and Bobby Cruz came to chat with me, and he expressed that he was a fan of mine, and enjoyed my music I was like WOW. Its always a humbling experience your fellow musician’s acknowledgement of your work.

Is there a message you have for your fans or something you would like them to know about you?

I want the fans to enjoy life, life is too short. Live your life positively. I am always positive; I wake up every day always looking for the best in everything. This career is difficult at times and there are lots of disappointments and you always have to try to have a positive attitude.

And my last question comes from your female fans (he starts to laugh) they want to know how do you continue to look so handsome and sexy – really they asked me to ask you (and the laughter continues)?

I play a lot of racket ball, and exercise. My daughter is always suggesting what to wear and what to buy. My wife is always making sure that I am well shaven they both look after me.  My wife is  the one that is the photographer of the CD cover and she came up with the concept. My family is always making sure I am looking my best and the fans deserve that too… I try.

Luisito thank your for your honesty, you understand who you are and you respect what you give us. I love how you know what we need and want as fans, thank  you so much!

The CD release party will be at the Copacabana in New York City on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 (all fans are invited contact the Copa and get on Luisito Rosarios’s guest list to attend for free call 212-221-2672). See below for further event dates below.

Javi Diaz (El Swagger) – Urban/Reggeaton Artist

Javi

Elvin Polanco, CEO of Elvin Polanco Music Group does it again, the founder of “Aventura” has signed Javi Diaz (El Swagger) an Urban/Reggeaton artist. El Swagger who has been polishing his artistic skills since the age of 13 is currently in the mist of two international releases “Activate” and “Bailando”.

I recently met with El Swagger in Brooklyn (yes El Swagger took me back home near my old neighborhood, I did not realized how much I miss Graham Ave), and this is some of what he shared with me:

You were  born and raised in Puerto Rico how did your love for music begin:

I was part of the church choir when I was young and by the age of 13 I started writing lyrics and developing a musical style that comes not only from the church music I grew up with but also of the Salsa music I was listening to from artists such as Frankie Ruiz, El Grand Combo and many other Salsa artists of the 70s and 80s. I expressed to my mother that I wanted to pursue music and she said if that is what I liked that I had her support.

I started performing rap music in 1995 with a group of friends as a matter of fact we would perform in a club not to far from here; the group split up and all the 90s Reggeaton music starts to explode from Puerto Rico with such artists as Rico C, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Wisin and Yandel and that motivated me to continue to write music. I always put God before anything, and my faith, and having so many musical influences has help me to keep positive, and to continue improving my musical skills.

You have been working on your new project of which will include your two recently released songs “Activate” and “Bailando”  which I have been listening to non-stop lately; what/who inspires you when you write:

Thank you Wendy for liking the songs I really appreciate it. I tend to write romantic lyrics and what usually inspires me is my family and life experiences. These two songs we released were written late at night 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning, when inspiration hits I just have to stop and write. Write the idea and continue to develop the lyrics and the sound until the song becomes what I want it to be. I want the fans to feel the lyrics, the music, and the message I am trying to convey.

How did you come across Elvin Polanco, and why did you decide that he was the one you wanted to work with:

I knew of Elvin from his work history with Aventura, and his other projects as manager and producer; I decided that I wanted to take my music to another level, I discussed it with my family and decided to contact him. When I reached him he said,  “sing something for me”, I started to sing and he liked.  We met and we had several discussions and he signed me, which I am very happy about.

How did you get the nick name “El Swagger”(he starts to laugh):

“El Swagger” is a nick name that was given to me by Elvin he said we need to call you something besides Javi Diaz, and we started brainstorming and he came up with “El Swagger”.

(I have to say that based the two songs I have been listening two “El Swagger” is a nice fit I so agree with Elvin; there is all kinds of swagg in those songs :).)

I am curious to know who would you love to collaborate with and what is the one venue you would love to perform in one day (he gives me a big smile):

WOW, well there are many great artists that I would like to work with, but if I had to pick two it would be Don Omar and Ivy Queen. They are the type of artists that sing within the Urban/Reggeaton genre but they can really sing any genre they want, because of the quality of their voices. Now I have to confess to you that in Salsa Marc Anthony is my favorite (see people Marc follows me everywhere is not me and when I asked the question I wanted him to say Ivy Queen she is my favorite female Urban artist ;)). I course would love to perform in Madison Square Garden one day, its every artist dream I believe.

I know that you have been performing in the NYC tri-state area recently do you have anything lined up soon:

Yes thanks for asking, I will be on the Yari A Otro Nivel show on Saturday, August 2nd on the Time Warner Channel 79, and on August 14th I will be on Cablevision Chanel 1025’s La Llave TV Show, please I invite all the fans to watch the show and be on the look out for my future performances on my social media pages  Facebook: Javi Diaz, Instagram: JaviDiazElSwagger, and Twitter @diazjavi376

Javi, thank you so much for meeting with me and allowing the fans to get a glimpse of your story and we are looking forward to seeing you in your dream venue of MSG, in the mean time I am sure that your fans will find you where ever you go.

Thank you Wendy and  I am looking forward to seeing Marc with you one day soon (this time Wendy is smiling).

Now I so wanted give you guys some pics of Javi Diaz “El Swagger” and as I started taking several pics of him he took off his glasses and I discovered that this young man in additions to having a great voice and being a composer he has “green eyes”; so much for those glasses!

Bronx Dominican Parade – 2014

DSC_0349

Elvin Polanco and me!

I love surprises and this weekend I had a nice surprise when I was invited to the Bronx Dominican Parade by none other than the founder of Aventura, Mr. Elvin Polanco. I would like to send a special thank you to Mr. Elvin Polanco who is the CEO of Elvin Polanco Music Group for inviting me to the parade and providing me with an all access pass. Mr. Polanco is managing Chantel Collado, Banda D Colores, and Javi Diaz (El Swagger) musical artists which I will be featuring soon here at WendyTFanLove.com.

The Bronx was full of Dominican Pride this past Sunday, July 28th , as the Grand Concourse played host to the 25th annual Dominican Parade. The floats were full of music and the parade route was full of extremely happy people. Some of the Dominican Republic’s well known artists such as Johnny Ventura, Sergio Vargas (I always wanted to see him perform live, and I got to see him today 🙂 ), and Maestro, Henry Garcia with Banda D Colores came to the Bronx to celebrate the parade with their fans. Also present were up and coming artists such as International Boyz, Bachata Heightz, Chantel Collado, and El Duo Perfecto, these young Dominican artists are starting to make their mark on the music scene with their unique fusions from Bachata, Pop, Salsa, Urban and R&B music. The parade was also filled with local media celebrities such as Shirley Ponce from Univision 41, El Pacha local radio personality, along with local radio DJ Alex Sensation, DJ Aneudy and DJ Lobo. There were also plenty of local politicians making their rounds and showing their respect to the Dominican community.

Besides music and celebrities in attendance one of the best parts of the parade is seeing the children with their parade costumes and dancing their well rehearsed moves. The parade is a celebration of Dominican culture,  its people, and there was plenty of it. The very best part of the parade for me is seeing the people with their flags, bandannas, hats and their smiles. I had a wonderful time at the parade and I also met up with some new and old friends which just added to my beautiful surprise. In Spanish the parade is called, La Gran Parada Domenicana, well it was certainly “Grand”, my congratulations to the parade founder and executive director Mr. Felipe Febles#lovemyfanlife #fanlove

NOURHAN – EGYPTIAN FAN LOVE

nourhan egypt

Music is the universal language and it can brings total strangers together meet Nourhan who is a fan I have never met in person, but we have a fan love connection that goes back many years. Most of us that have been members of Marc Anthony’s various fan clubs, know of this very special young lady as “Marc’s fan from Egypt” and have been intrigued by her dedication and her genuine fan love for Marc over the years.

– Nourhan we know you as a fan, but barely know anything personal about you, please share some information about  yourself if you don’t mind.  Where were you born, were do you reside, how old are you, are you going to school and what is your major, or are you working and what is your profession? Do you speak/understand Spanish?

I’m from Alexandria, Egypt’s largest city on the Mediterranean coast. I went to school and college there. I was born in 1989..  I’m almost 25. I have a BA in Linguistics and Translation. Last year, I moved to Cairo after I was awarded a fellowship at a private university there. So, I’m currently a full-time graduate student and a part-time instructor of Academic English. If things go as planned, I will graduate in Spring 2015 with a Master’s in Applied Linguistics.

I understand Spanish pretty well; I taught myself with the help of online dictionaries and my fair knowledge of French. I also started taking Spanish classes a couple of years ago.

-When and where was the first time you heard MA singing and what did you think, what was your first reaction? When did you see him face and was he singing at the time and what did you think of him?

The first time I ever heard Marc singing was in 2003 (WOW, I can’t believe that was 11 years ago!). I used to watch a lot of music videos on TV back then… One day I saw “I Need To Know” and it immediately became a favorite… Then I listened to “I’ve got you” and I was hooked! I was amazed by Marc’s mesmerizing voice and his charisma. I started reading a lot about him and bought all his records that I could find in the stores here in Egypt. Because I couldn’t find his older CDs, some incredibly kind and generous MA-Angels (you know who you are J) were thoughtful enough to share them with me.

-What is your favorite Marc song and why? Do you understand the Spanish songs (tell me if you translate them or have friends tell you what they are about, if you don’t understand Spanish)?

It’s very difficult to choose just one favorite song by Marc, but some of my all-time favorites are “Y hubo alguien”, “You sang to me”, “Que precio tiene el cielo”, “Hipocrecía” and all songs from” Libre”.

I do understand the Spanish songs. I used to spend a lot of time translating the lyrics from Spanish into English and then I got to a point where I knew enough vocabulary and would just understand the songs without having to translate every single word. Like I said, my knowledge of French helped me a lot.

-What is it about MA that has led you to continue to be such a loyal fan?

To me Marc is an extraordinary artist; his voice is like magic. He’s tremendously talented in both singing and acting, he’s very charismatic and funny, and he’s very kind to his fans. His music has helped me through some tough times and for that he will always have a special place in my heart. He also introduced me to some very special people whose friendship I will cherish forever.

What is your ultimate Marc fantasy?

I just wish I could attend one of his concerts someday.

 – If you could ask Marc one question what would it be?

This is probably very cliché, but I would ask him about the happiest and saddest moments in his life.

 – What would you like Marc to know about you?

I would just like him to know that I’m very grateful to him, his music, and the fantastic people I got to know through him.

 – What other artists are you a fan of and what songs are you currently into?

I don’t have a lot of favorite artists, but I like Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, and Dido. I also love listening to Arabic songs from the sixties and seventies.

-What has been your experience in sharing fellow fans?

I feel very lucky and grateful for having been part of “La Familia”.  I’ve always been amazed by how supportive, warm, and friendly everyone is. When I think of the Marc Anthony Club (MAC) community, nothing but fond memories come to my mind. I will always cherish the friendships I made there.

I asked Nourhan if there was a special picture that I could share and this what she said and sent:

Nourah marc kisses

Well, back when we still had MAC, I logged in one day (I think it was in September 2005) and found a new thread with my name. I clicked and then found this autograph. I can’t describe how I felt; my heart was pounding and I started crying of happiness and couldn’t really comprehend what was happening. It took me some time to get myself together as I read the posts, I found out that one of the members of La Familia (the lovely lady we knew as “marcoholic”) had won a Meet & Greet with Marc. When she met him, she told him about me and asked him to sign her copy of Amar Sin Mentiras for me. She later sent me the actual CD cover in the mail and, needless to say, it’s one of my most prized possessions. I will never forget this incredibly kind and thoughtful gesture.

Thank you for bringing back so many amazing memories and for wanting to interview me for your blog.

Nourhan, I am glad we share our love for “Libre”, I feel we missed out on having a “Libre” tour. My wish is that one day I could  facilitate your Marc  fantasy of attending a Marc concert and to enhance it with a meet and greet. Wish you lots of success in your chosen career we are proud that you have chosen the Spanish language as part of your life’s work. Gracias Y Bendiciones!

Que Viva Colombia!

DSC_0320

I had so much fun at the Soy Colombia Concert held last night  at the Prudential Center and I went all “by myself”. Most of the time I go to concerts I usually go with several friends and or meet them there. For the Soy Colombia concert I was in pursuit of getting a press pass hoping that I would be able to interview some of the performers that were going to be on stage and of course, try to get good pictures to share with you all. Well I was denied a press pass, which kind of turn out to be a blessing in the disguise, which I will tell you about as you continue to read. Now as some of you may know I am fairly new to this media/press pass thing, and taking pictures at concerts was a job I always left to my “concert going partners”. WendyT is way too cute and busy trying to enjoy the show to be taking pictures, well that’s the way it was.  I know its bad, but hey I am still trying to figure out how the camera I just bought works, yea I had to buy a professional looking one those cute small color ones don’t yell out “member of the media”, who knew ?

As I am driving I am praying let the miracles begin because I was looking forward to seeing all the performers, which included Groupo Niche, Orquesta Guayacan, Nicky Jam, Jorge Celedon, and Silvestre Dangond. I love being a fan, and that I am a “seasoned” fan is even better; I drove up to the parking garage and told the attendant that I just needed to park on the first level or second because I was by myself and would be returning to the parking lot late; this is something that works most of the time if you get to the venue early and you ask kindly, which I did and ended up on the second level, which was great they were sending everyone else to the third level. As I waited outside the venue there were lots of fans all gathering, it was nice to see young people and older people with such Colombian pride, they had their colors on with soccer jerseys (as I had suggested on a earlier post), bandannas, and hats. I was chatting with some of them I asked if could take their picture they said yes; and they were all so happy it was contagious. La Mega radio station guys were there too, had to chat with some, its sort of comforting to see them around every time I go to a concert in the tri-state area, (Cuba thanks for the pic).

Once inside the venue is where the blessing in disguise started to materialize, my seat was on the floor, row 16, which for a relatively short person it’s not the best situation, but for a “Professional Fan” , no problem. I just knew that there was no way I was going to stay in that seat, I got up and told the guard if it was Ok for me to take pictures from the sides, he said, “yes”, I immediately took that yes and headed closer to the front of the stage, while there Nicky Jam come on stage to performed and I was able to take pictures almost as if I had gotten a “press pass”! I was so happy I was beside my self; after a bit a guard came to me and told me that I could not take pictures because my camera had a big lens, which was not true but I was not about to argue. I put the camera down and went into my bag, pulled out the “small colored camera” out, there was nothing stopping me from taking a picture ;). After a little while I ended on the second row center, I pulled out the Nikon and  started again to take my pictures. I did take some that are just Ok like I said I am still a novice when it comes to taking pics, but I was not about to give up. The most difficult part about this process is trying not to dance while taking the pictures and videos, it’s almost impossible for me :). Orquesta Guayacan was the second act and by that time I decided to find a seat on the side not too far from the stage and I stayed there for the remainder of the evening. I needed to be in a place where I did not have too many people blocking my view above from the floor.

The fans were dancing in the aisles, they were drinking, singing and just feeling it , everything was so beautiful. I kept thinking as I sat there and was looking at everyone celebrating this immense pride for Colombia how much they must be missing their homeland. This feeling of melancholy just overwhelmed me because I know what the feeling of being away from your country is like. The artist who performed knew how it important it was for the fans to feel as if they were back in Colombia some sang typical Colombian music, and everyone was clapping and singing you can feel the love. Everyone was so kind with me, they offered me drinks, they were happy in allowing me to take their pictures, I could not have asked for more. When Grupo Niche and Orquesta Guayacan came out I was in Salsa, Cumbia and Vellanato heaven, I have  been dancing to their music for years. I have several friends who are Colombian, and a cousin who’s mom is Colombian, and according to them the country is beautiful.  Visiting Colombia is definitely on my bucket list and I am fascinated by their accent. QUE VIVA COLOMBIA!

Romeo Santos – A Bronx Tale – Yankee Stadium Unimaginable Dreams

As everyone already knows on July 11th and 12th  Romeo Santos sold out Yankee Stadium and made history, not only American history but Latino history. The Bronx born self proclaimed King of Bachata is definitely now the people’s King of Bachata. Born to a Puerto Rican mother and Dominican father Romeo represented for every Latino living on the planet who has dreams of a better life. As a former member of the best selling Bachata group Adventura, Romeo came prepared to give the audience exactly what they paid for, music, music and lots of surprise guests two nights in a row. It was evident that as an experienced seasoned performer he had the audience captivated with every move, every note, and every joke he had to offer. He was cursing a bit, having fun, and generous with his audience so much so that the first night he threw his four thousand dollar designer jacket into the audience. He threw the designer jacket to proof to his fans that they were worth more than four thousand dollars and he was grateful to have them.

Romeo and all that assisted to produce the show were extremely smart in the selection of the artists that were invited to be on stage with him. The first night Romeo brought on stage, Puerto Rican Reggaeton artist Tego Calderon, who he said inspired him to venture into singing Reggaeton. He also had legendary  Dominican artists Anthony Santos and Luis Vargas of them he said they were the ones that inspired him to sing Bachata.  The sexiest moves on stage were with 80 something year old female Merengue singer, Fefita La Grande. Even Bernie Williams came home to Yankee Stadium to play his guitar for Romeo fans. I have to mention Romeo’s band they were exceptional and the back-up singer JayRo Rosado, I really want to see him perform his own show one day soon, he was really a good singer, love his style, sound, everything (check out his picture below, had to take it, its part of being a Professional Fan, really I do this for you guys 🙂 ). There was also a surprise marriage proposal from Romeo’s longtime friend and barber who propose to his girlfriend, it was such a sweet moment for the audience; KimKaye would have approved.

Day 2 Romeo once again had a stellar performance where he surprised the fans with Prince Royce who sang Drake’s part of the hit “Odio”. And what some of us had been anticipating for two days (not going to name names 😉 ) Marc Anthony on stage to sing for the first time live the duet with Romeo “Yo Tambien”, it was trilling to no end. I just love being present anytime that Marc sings any song, but so much more when its a new song he has  never sang live before.

There were plenty of magical moments with Romeo at Yankee Stadium two days in a row, but when the members of his former group Adventura came on stage it felt like the entire Bronx was shaking. The excitement of seeing Lenny, Henry, Max, and Romeo had their fans in Adventura heaven. There was a young lady literally crying while her entire body was trembling from the excitement; I also witness an 11 year old dancing and singing out loud to every song they performed. There were fans from every age group, every Latin American country, and of course bilingual…it was beautiful to witness history in the making and the pride that was felt was wonderful and inspiring.

I have been to Yankee Stadium before to see Salsa and JayZ concerts and I  have truly enjoyed them, but the energy and anticipation felt at Romeo’s concert was definitely an experience that is going to be hard to beat as a Professional Fan, I was in music #fanlove heaven. These are the moments when I wish I could take everyone with me so that every fan can feel what I feel.

I have more magical professional moments that happened during this past weekend, you all will be reading those stories soon. I have to thank my fellow fans and Marc travelling partners for always making it special and their assistance. – Gracias!
